Does trimming re-encode the video?

No. The segment is copied out of the file without re-encoding, so it's fast and there is no loss of quality. The trade-off is that a clip can only start cleanly at a keyframe, so the first moment may look slightly off — nudge the start a little earlier or later if it does.

Why is there no preview for my video?

Your browser may not be able to play that file (for example some iPhone HEVC .mov files in Chrome). You can still type the start and end times and the trim works exactly the same.

Is my video uploaded just to preview it?

No. The preview plays from the file on your device. The video is uploaded only when you press Trim video, along with the start time and length.

How precise are the times?

Tenths of a second. You can type times like 1:23.5, or drag the handles and use the −0.1 and +0.1 buttons.
