Yes — choose 'To a file size' and set the limit. The quality is lowered step by step until the image fits, and if needed the picture is also made slightly smaller. If even the lowest quality can't reach the limit we say so instead of pretending.

Why didn't my PNG get much smaller?

PNG is lossless, so quality settings don't apply. For PNG photos, choose WebP or JPG as the format — that is usually where the big saving is. Flat graphics and logos are often better left as PNG.

What if compressing would make the file bigger?

If nothing was asked to change and the new file would be larger, we keep your original and tell you it was already well optimised.

Is my photo's location removed?

Yes — the compressed picture is saved fresh, so location, camera and date details aren't copied into it. To clean a photo without re-compressing it, use EXIF Data Remover.

Is there a limit to the image size?
