Text Case Converter — frequently asked questions
- What's the difference between Title Case and Title Case (smart)?
- Title Case capitalises the first letter of every word. Smart keeps short words such as a, an, the, and, of, in and to lowercase — except at the start, the end or after a colon — which is how headlines are usually written.
- How does Sentence case work?
- It lowercases everything, then capitalises the first letter of each sentence and the word I on its own. Names and acronyms in the middle of a sentence are lowercased too, so you may want to fix those by hand.
- How do camelCase, snake_case and the others split my words?
- Words are split at spaces, punctuation, underscores, hyphens and at lower-to-upper changes, so helloWorld, hello_world and Hello World all give the same words. Acronyms are handled too: XMLHttpRequest becomes xml-http-request. Multi-line text is converted one line at a time.
- Does it work with accented and non-English letters?
- Yes, it uses your browser's Unicode case rules — for example ß becomes SS in uppercase. Scripts without upper and lower case, like Chinese or Arabic, are left unchanged.
