Yes — switch on 'Choose pages from each file' and type pages like 1-3, 7. Leave a box empty to take every page of that file.

What does 'Alternate pages' do?

It takes one page from each file in turn (page 1 of A, page 1 of B, page 2 of A…). It's the standard fix when you scanned the fronts and backs of a double-sided document as two separate files; tick 'second file is in reverse order' if the backs came out last-page-first.

What are bookmarks for?

With 'Add a bookmark for each file' on, PDF readers show a clickable outline with one entry per source file, each jumping to that file's first page.

Can the merged PDF have a table of contents?

Yes — switch on 'Add a table of contents page'. You get a clickable contents page in front with one line per file and its page number (the numbers already count the contents page itself). Turn on 'Keep each file's own bookmarks' as well and each file's chapters are nested under its entry in the bookmarks panel. File names with characters outside basic Latin appear with a ? on the contents page; the bookmarks keep the full name.

Is there a limit to how many PDFs I can merge?

No fixed limit — merging runs in your browser using your device's memory, so the practical ceiling is your device, not a quota.

Does merging reduce quality?

No — pages are copied at their original resolution and encoding. Nothing is recompressed or rasterized.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Not directly — we flag locked files as soon as you add them. Unlock them first with Unlock PDF (you'll need the password), then merge.
