1. Which tools this covers

A small number of Documateo's tools use AI-assisted processing:

  • OCR PDF and PDF to Excel — text and table extraction from scanned or image-based documents
  • Remove Background and Upscale Image — automated image editing

Every other tool on Documateo is deterministic file conversion/editing with no AI model involved — this page only applies to the four tools listed above.

2. Results may be imperfect

AI-assisted extraction and editing can make mistakes. OCR and PDF-to-Excel results can misread characters, misplace numbers, drop rows or columns, or misinterpret a document's layout — especially with low-quality scans, unusual fonts, handwriting, or complex tables. Background removal and image upscaling can produce visible artifacts, incorrectly remove or keep parts of an image, or alter fine detail. None of these outputs are guaranteed to be accurate or complete.

3. Always review the output

Treat every AI-processed result as a draft, not a final answer. Before relying on extracted numbers, text, or an edited image for anything that matters — a financial figure, a legal document, a business decision — check it against the original file yourself.

4. No professional advice

These tools don't provide legal, tax, accounting, medical, or other professional advice, and extracting or editing a document with them doesn't constitute review, verification, or certification of its contents by Documateo. You remain fully responsible for how you use any output.

5. How your data is used

Files processed by an AI-powered tool are handled the same way as any other server-side tool — see our Privacy Policy for exactly how long inputs and outputs are retained before deletion. We don't use your files to train any model, ours or anyone else's.
