Can I take just one file out of a big ZIP?

Yes. The archive's contents are listed without unpacking anything, and Save extracts only that one file — the rest are never unpacked, so it stays fast even for a large archive.

Does it open password-protected ZIPs?

Yes — AES-256 and the older ZipCrypto style. When Documateo sees encrypted files it asks for the password. It opens password-protected ZIPs but does not create them.

What does 'Smart' compression do?

It stores files that are already compressed (JPG, PNG, MP4, PDF, Office documents, ZIPs and similar) as they are, and compresses everything else. That is quicker and avoids making them slightly larger. 'Fast', 'Smallest' and 'No compression' apply one setting to every file.

What happens if two files have the same name?

Both are kept: the second becomes 'name (2).ext', and so on, instead of one silently overwriting the other.

Can I zip a whole folder?

This tool zips the individual files you add at the top level — folder structure is not preserved when creating an archive. Opening a ZIP does show its folders and file paths.

What are the size limits?
