What causes a PDF to become corrupted in the first place?
Common causes include an interrupted download or transfer, a crash during the original file's creation, or storage-media errors — the file's internal structure ends up incomplete or inconsistent.
Can every corrupted PDF be repaired?
No — repair works when enough of the file's structure survives to rebuild from. If the damage is severe (e.g. large missing chunks of the file), full recovery isn't always possible, though partial content can often still be recovered.
