- What does 'flattening' actually mean?
- It converts interactive form fields — text boxes, checkboxes, dropdowns — into fixed content that looks the same but can no longer be edited or filled in. The visible values stay exactly as they were.
- Why would I want to do this?
- To lock in a filled-out form before sending it, so whoever opens it can't accidentally (or intentionally) change the answers you entered.
- What happens if my PDF has no fillable fields?
- The tool tells you clearly rather than silently returning an unchanged file — there's nothing to flatten if the PDF was never a fillable form to begin with.
- Is this reversible?
- No — once flattened and downloaded, the fields are permanently static in that file. Keep your original if you might need the fillable version again.
