Does cropping delete content outside the crop area, or just hide it?

It hides it — the page's visible area gets smaller, but the cropped-away content is still inside the file. If something sensitive must be gone for good, use Redact PDF instead.

What does Auto-detect do?

It looks at every page, finds where the actual content is, and trims the empty space around it, keeping a small border. By default one safe crop is used for all pages (so nothing is ever cut); you can switch to fitting each page separately.

Can I crop only some pages?

Yes — pick odd pages, even pages or a range like 2-5, 9. Pages you don't select are left exactly as they are.

Can one page have different margins from the rest?

Yes — open that page in the preview, switch on 'Crop this page differently', and set its margins. Every other page keeps the shared crop.

Does it work on rotated or scanned pages?

Yes — 'top' means the top of the page as you see it, even if the page is stored rotated.
