How it works
- 1
Upload a PNG, JPG or WebP — a logo, icon, line drawing or signature works best.
- 2
Choose Black & white for single-colour artwork, or Colours for flat illustrations, and watch the SVG preview update.
- 3
Adjust the cut-off, number of colours, detail and speck size until the result looks right.
- 4
Click Save SVG and download the vector file.
Image to SVG — frequently asked questions
- Is my picture uploaded anywhere?
- No. The picture is traced inside your browser tab and never sent to a server.
- What kinds of pictures work best?
- Flat artwork with clear edges: logos, icons, line drawings, stamps, signatures and scanned sketches. Photos and soft gradients turn into very large, blotchy SVG files — keep those as JPG or PNG.
- Will the SVG stay sharp when I enlarge it?
- Yes. An SVG is made of shapes, not pixels, so it stays crisp at any size. Very large pictures are traced at a reduced size for speed, and the result still scales freely.
- How do I get a transparent background?
- In Black & white mode leave 'Add a white background' off. The SVG then only contains the artwork, and anything transparent in your original stays transparent.
- The result looks too rough or too smooth. What do I change?
- Raise Detail to follow edges more closely, or lower it for simpler shapes. Turn Smooth curves on for rounded, hand-drawn shapes or off for straight-edged artwork. Increase 'Ignore specks' to remove dust and noise from scans.
- Can I trace a signature and use it on a PDF?
- Yes. Trace it in Black & white with a see-through background, then use the SVG in design tools. To sign a PDF directly, use Sign PDF, which accepts a photo or scan of your signature.
