What's the difference between the two methods?

'Clean the file' edits the file itself and removes the hidden details without touching the picture data, so there's no quality loss and colours stay exact. 'Re-draw the picture' saves a fresh copy, which removes everything but re-compresses JPGs.

What exactly is removed?

Location (GPS), camera and lens details, date and time taken, software notes, captions, keywords and copyright text, embedded thumbnails and, for phone photos, any extra embedded images such as motion-photo data. We list what was found afterwards.

Will my photo turn sideways?

No — a tiny 'which way is up' note is kept on JPGs so phone photos stay upright. It contains nothing else.

Does it work on PNG and WebP?

Yes — text notes, timestamps and EXIF/XMP data are removed from PNG and WebP files. GIF and BMP files don't carry this kind of data and are returned unchanged.
