How it works

  1. 1

Add a JPG photo. Its current camera, date, location, author and caption are filled in for you.

  2. 2

Change what you need. Empty a box to remove that detail. Optionally clear serial numbers and XMP/IPTC blocks too.

  3. 3

Check the pending changes, then click Save edited photo.

  4. 4

Download the -edited.jpg. The picture data is copied as it was, so quality does not change.

EXIF Editor — frequently asked questions

Does editing the details reduce the photo's quality?
No. Only the hidden details are rewritten. The compressed picture data is copied byte for byte, so there is no re-compression and no loss. Your original file is never changed; you get a new copy.
What can I edit?
Camera make and model, software, artist, copyright, description, date and time taken, GPS location with optional altitude, and the which-way-is-up note. You can also clear serial numbers, owner name and the XMP/IPTC blocks that editing apps add.
Can I use this to prove when or where a photo was taken?
No. Anyone can edit these details with free tools, so they are not proof of anything. Use this to fix honest mistakes, such as a camera clock set wrong or a scan with no details, to add your credit, or to protect your privacy. Don't use it to mislead people.
What else changes when I save?
The small preview image and the camera maker's private notes stored in the file are dropped. They can hold old copies of the details you are editing and can't be rewritten safely. Exposure settings, lens details and the colour profile are kept.
Does it work on PNG, WebP or HEIC?
This editor is for JPG photos. To clear hidden data from PNG or WebP use the EXIF Data Remover. To edit a HEIC photo, convert it to JPG first.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is read and rewritten entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
